Here are a few photos from my weekend in Köln, exploring the Christmas markets.
The Germans sure do Christmas well! Aside from the incredible Dom (cathedral) and old city centre with it’s lovely coblestone streets and tall, peaked houses, the markets are amazing. Decked out with lights and decorations, and rows and rows of cute wooden huts selling handcrafted decorations, yummy street food, and copious amounts of glühwein… and so cheap too! The snow and ice skating were the icing on the cake – so much fun
If you go, definitely try their local Kölsch beer – I’m not a big beer drinker, but that stuff is delicious. They serve it ice cold and in small glasses to make sure what you drink is fresh – straight from the barrel! We had the best pork knuckle and apple strudel as well.. just thinking about it all is making me hungry haha.
Happy hump day!
