beside the sea

Brighton has been a seaside getaway for hundreds of years – and as it’s just an easy day-trip away from London, we decided to pop down and pay a visit. Although we chose a day that was very frickin freezing rather ‘fresh’, it was easy to see that this place has a certain charm with it’s little boutique stores, seafood restaurants, and of course – the Brighton Pier.

Now it’s time to start the working week again, after an amazing three-day weekend – and stay tuned for more photos soon!

Queen’s Day

IMG_0109

If you’ve never been to Queen’s Day in the Netherlands, I definitely recommend it – I’ve never seen a whole city (let alone country!) party like that, or seen so much orange all in one place! This year was particularly special, as the Queen handed the crown over to her son – making this the last ‘Queen’s Day’ before it officially becomes King’s Day next year.

The canals were clogged with boats, the streets clogged with parties, with food & drink stalls everywhere and people dancing, getting crazy, and generally having an awesome time.. love it!

Hope you enjoy the pics ;)

Rotterdam

IMG_9895

I was lucky enough to spend a lovely weekend in Rotterdam, where I was visiting a friend of mine. I love being introduced to new places through friends, as they always show me the best local cafes, markets, bars, areas, shops, or sites.. it’s the best way to get to know the ‘real’ city from a local perspective, rather than as just another tourist!

The highlight – besides waking up to the smell of pancakes, so spoiled! – was the incredible Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit at the Kunsthal Museum. If you’re into fashion, I would definitely recommend checking it out – amazing pieces from his lifetime of work, and all displayed so well!

Hope you all have had a good start to the week – and if you’re in Holland as I am right now, happy Queen’s / King’s Day!

B xx
