Spring ballerina

Hello all! :)

How is your week going? Tonight I’m off to meet Paul French, the author of ‘Midnight in Peking’ - a book that tells the true story of the murder of a young English woman in 1937, and describes life in a very different era that is now long-gone. Paul French will be taking us on a walking tour of some of the key places in the book, which still exist today - it should be very interesting!

Here’s my look for you today – a ballerina skirt, leather jacket, and my Pradas. Spring is finally in the air - a toasty 13C, and time to break out the tights :D   Hope you like it!

Sequins + Fur + Leather

Friday is here at last. I’ve just come home from a staff dinner in celebration of Chinese New Year (which is officially on Jan 23rd), involving a lot of food, wine, and general merriment.. good times!

Today’s post is a look we shot in the garden near our apartment complex. Although it was only about 3pm, the sun was already just a faded red ball in the distance (can you spot it?). I must confess that despite my optimism when we set out, it was actually pretty cold – cue my trusty warm Uniqlo jacket (in the last photo) to keep me warm. These leather leggings were a total market score – bought for only RMB 50 (USD$8)! Thanks Saina for spotting them ;)

What do you think of the sequin/fur/leather mix?

Sequin tee, faux fur vest: Zara / Leather leggings: Yashow Market / Boots: Ralph Lauren / Sequin clutch: Zara / Sunglasses: Stella McCartney / Charm bracelet: Yashow Market / Down jacket (last photo): Uniqlo

Thanks for stopping by, and please feel free to leave a comment or hype me on Lookbook. Your feedback and support means a lot!

Boxing Day Races!

Yesterday afternoon was spent enjoying an Auckland Boxing Day tradition – the Boxing Day races at Ellerslie racecourse! The day is all about dressing up in your best gear, soaking up the sunshine, enjoying good food, drinks, and music, and occassionally watching the horse races! :) I will definitely try to go again one year - next time for the full day in the Fashion in the Fields section (we arrived late and missed all of that action yesterday which was a bummer!) and although I didn’t get a chance to this time I’m keen to go back and place a bet or two!

I decided to wear my orange skater dress from TopShop, which was my emergency wedding outfit in Bandung – do you remember? Turned out to be a handy purchase! ;) I teamed it with my sequin clutch and L.A.M.B heels, and my new Wanderlust+Co jewelry – an online purchase which arrived just in time for Christmas (Merry Christmas to me! haha ) :)

How did you spend your Boxing Day?
